What this calculator does

The Commission Calculator estimates a payment based on a commission percentage and commissionable amount. It can be used for sales, brokerage, referral, or other percentage-based compensation examples.

How to use the calculator step by step

Enter the transaction or commissionable amount and the commission percentage. If commission is split between several parties, use the amount or percentage that applies to the individual share.

How the calculation works

Commission equals commissionable amount multiplied by commission rate. A 12,000 transaction at a 3% rate produces a commission of 360.

Worked example and scenario testing

For a 250,000 transaction with a 2.5% commission, total commission is 6,250. If that amount is divided equally between two parties, each share would be 3,125 before further deductions.

How to interpret your result

The result estimates gross commission according to the rate entered. Actual payment may be reduced by splits, fees, expenses, taxes, cancellations, or contractual adjustments.

Accuracy, assumptions, and limitations

Real commission agreements can include minimums, caps, tiers, different bases, chargebacks, and eligibility conditions not represented by a simple percentage.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not confuse a 3% commission with keeping 3% of profit unless the contract specifically defines profit as the commission base.

Privacy and browser-based calculations

Only numerical transaction and rate information is required. Avoid entering customer or contract identifiers.
