What this calculator does
The Overtime Pay Calculator estimates additional earnings for hours paid at an overtime multiplier such as time-and-a-half. It separates regular and overtime compensation for planning purposes.
How to use the calculator step by step
Enter the regular hourly rate, regular hours, overtime hours, and multiplier requested by the form. Verify the applicable overtime rules for your location and employment arrangement.
How the calculation works
Overtime rate equals regular hourly rate multiplied by the overtime multiplier. At 20 per hour with a 1.5 multiplier, the overtime rate is 30 per hour. Ten overtime hours would therefore produce 300 of overtime gross pay.
Worked example and scenario testing
An employee works 40 regular hours at 24 per hour and 6 overtime hours at 1.5 times the regular rate. Regular pay is 960 and overtime pay is 216, for 1,176 gross pay.
How to interpret your result
The calculator estimates gross compensation. Payroll deductions and legal definitions of overtime eligibility can change what appears on an actual paycheck.
Accuracy, assumptions, and limitations
Overtime laws may depend on daily or weekly thresholds, occupation, salary status, collective agreements, holidays, and jurisdiction-specific rules.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not assume every hour beyond a personal schedule legally qualifies for overtime. Also avoid applying the multiplier twice when the entered overtime rate already includes the premium.
Privacy and browser-based calculations
Only wage and hour figures are processed. No employee identifiers or payroll credentials should be entered.
