What this calculator does
The Net Income Calculator estimates the amount remaining after the costs, expenses, taxes, or deductions represented by the fields are subtracted from income or revenue.
How to use the calculator step by step
Enter the income or revenue amount and each applicable expense or deduction requested by the calculator. Use values covering the same period, such as all monthly figures or all annual figures.
How the calculation works
At its simplest, net income equals total income minus total expenses. In a business context, this may mean revenue minus operating costs, interest, taxes, and other expenses. For personal calculations, the included deductions depend on the page fields.
Worked example and scenario testing
If revenue is 12,000 and the included expenses total 8,700, estimated net income is 3,300. If an additional 500 cost was omitted, the corrected result would fall to 2,800.
How to interpret your result
The result represents what remains after the specific items entered. It should not automatically be treated as official accounting profit or take-home pay unless every required component has been included.
Accuracy, assumptions, and limitations
Accounting rules, tax treatment, depreciation, accruals, benefits, payroll deductions, and one-time items can make official net income more complex than a simple subtraction.
Common mistakes to avoid
Avoid mixing gross and net amounts, using figures from different time periods, or forgetting expenses that are already deducted elsewhere and then subtracting them a second time.
Privacy and browser-based calculations
The calculator needs monetary amounts only. Do not enter bank details, tax identification numbers, employer IDs, or other confidential information.
