What this calculator does

The Sales Commission Calculator estimates commission earnings from sales volume and a commission rate. It can help test quotas, compensation plans, and expected gross earnings.

How to use the calculator step by step

Enter eligible sales and the commission rate shown by the compensation plan. If different products or tiers use different rates, calculate them separately unless the page explicitly supports tiered commissions.

How the calculation works

Basic commission equals eligible sales multiplied by the commission rate. Sales of 50,000 at a 4% commission rate produce 2,000 of commission before taxes or adjustments.

Worked example and scenario testing

If a representative earns 5% on 30,000 of qualifying sales, commission is 1,500. If only 25,000 of those sales qualify under the plan, commission falls to 1,250.

How to interpret your result

The result is only as accurate as the definition of commissionable sales. Returns, cancellations, discounts, thresholds, chargebacks, and team splits can change final earnings.

Accuracy, assumptions, and limitations

Complex plans may use graduated rates, quotas, accelerators, caps, bonuses, recoverable draws, or different rules by product.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not calculate commission on gross sales if the agreement defines commission on collected revenue, margin, or another base.

Privacy and browser-based calculations

Only sales and commission values are necessary. Avoid entering customer names, transaction IDs, or confidential sales records.
