How the calculation works
Tip amount equals bill amount multiplied by the tip rate. Total paid equals bill plus tip. If the total is split equally, divide the final amount by the number of people.
Worked example and scenario testing
A 80 bill with a 20% tip produces a 16 tip and 96 total. Split equally among four people, that is 24 per person.
